If you are looking for a new pediatrician in Portland for your family, this list can help. Whether you just moved here for work, or you are expecting your first baby this will give you a good jumping off point to find Portland pediatricians that I’ve heard consistent rave reviews about as a parent in this area.
First off, Portland has a lot of different areas, and some people are willing to travel but others stick close to home. I included a few different areas for you to check out a pediatrician in your area of Portland, Hillsboro and Beaverton.
You can set up interviews with any of them so you can ask your child’s potential pediatrician their approach and see which lines up with your values. Meet and greets are no charge appointments that you schedule to chat with the pediatrician. You can ask them anything – where they went to school, how long they’ve been practicing, whether they’re a parent, and their stance on parenting topics that are important to you. By the end of the appointment you will know if you’ve found your future doctor, or if you would be a better fit elsewhere.
Overall, the Portland area is a welcoming, kind group of people and I haven’t had a bad pediatric experience yet.
For Portland proper, I have heard from mom friends the most fabulous things about Pediatric Associates of the Northwest! They’re consistently recommended for having such a caring, knowledgeable staff. You can’t go wrong with any of the pediatricians in that office. They have three offices around the area – North Portland, Tigard and Beaverton. If you are in North Portland, be sure to get a consultation with Dr. Birk at the Northwest District office to see if he is a good fit for your family! One of our friends makes the drive all the way from Hillsboro for her boys since he’s seen them since birth. http://www.portlandpediatric.com/
For those on the west side of Portland, definitely check out Westside Pediatrics Clinic! Dr. Geraldine Kempler at at that office was awarded 2021 Top Doctor Award in Portland! Plus this practice has been here for 38 years so you know you’re getting a lot of experience. They are located near Providence St. Vincent Hospital off Barnes Rd. It’s easy to schedule a meet and greet with her and any other pediatrician on their website here: https://www.westsidepediatrics.com/
Metropolitan Pediatrics is another that I have heard wonderful things about. Dr. Sarah Murdick is a favorite at that office. Metropolitan Pediatrics has 6 pediatrician offices around the Portland area – NW Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Happy Valley and Gresham. Additionally, this is another practice that is more than happy to schedule no charge meet and greets with doctors you are interested in to see which is a good fit for your family. https://www.metropediatrics.com/
I’m in Hillsboro, just west of Portland, so we have spent quite a few years going to the Kaiser Sunset office. My kids have seen several pediatricians there and have had great experiences. Dr. Linvog and Dr. Nash are highly recommended if you can get in with either of them!
Since our insurance has changed, we have also loved having a family practice doctor that the whole family can see at Dr. Hicken Medical Clinic. He is extremely kind and knowledgeable for all age groups from me and my husband to our two year old. I love that we don’t have to go through an answering system when we call because the staff picks up right away. After having Kaiser, it definitely gave me the sweet small town memories. https://www.hickenmd.com/
