Learn About Midwifery Birth Center Portland For Unmedicated Births

There are many milestones along the journey to meeting your baby. You want a midwife there every step of the way, supporting you in every decision you make, and encouraging a natural, unmedicated birth. Midwifery Birth Center in Portland is an excellent option!

About Midwifery Birth Center Portland

The Midwifery Birth Center is not a hospital or a home but a comfortable, modern facility dedicated to birth. The continuous care of a warm and loving team led by a certified nurse-midwife will accompany your labor. The Midwifery Birth Center encourages and supports natural, unmedicated births in a safe place that feels like home.

They have many fantastic care providers, some of whom speak Spanish, with a traditional nursing background. As nurse practitioners, they combine a holistic approach with rigorous medical training and the ability to treat disease and prescribe medication. They also work hand-in-hand with hospital-based midwives and obstetricians if you should need—or prefer—a hospital birth at any given point. No matter what comes up, they have the training, expertise, and experience to help you have a safe, natural, positive birth experience.

Services

As The Midwifery Birth Center promises, they are there every step of the way. They offer services during pregnancy, labor/delivery, postpartum, and resources. They offer birthing suites and invite you to tour them. The center also provides access to ultrasounds, genetic testing, and a complete range of support services. Prenatal appointments include being seen by your healthcare provider and meeting with others due around the same time you are to provide extra support.

The Midwifery Birth Center completely follows your cues and tends to your needs during labor and birth. You are “allowed” to eat and get that energy back up during labor here! They also offer 24/7 on-call postpartum support, including lactation consultant services. They will also send a birth assistant to your home a day or two after birth to check on you and the baby. They’ll schedule your postpartum appointment at the center a week or two after birth.

Specialty

Midwifery Birth Center has much to offer, including their birthing suites, family and group spaces, and lactation rooms. They accept various insurances, like Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, and CareOregon. They also accept self-pay clients. While having their main birth center, they work hand in hand with their neighboring hospital, should any need arise, and also have birthing rights to eight other birthing facilities in the Portland area.

A few more perks to Midwifery Birth Center include access to a family kitchen, labor tubs, and unlimited support. A few important things to know about them is that they can not deliver underwater currently. They can not administer epidurals but can transfer you to another birthing center or hospital should you decide you need an epidural.
